Si Yue Guo is a physical and computational chemist currently based in Toronto. Originally from Montreal, she holds a Joint Honours BSc in physics and mathematics from McGill University. During her PhD, Si Yue studied under Nobel Laureate John Polanyi at the University of Toronto, investigating the reaction dynamics of surface reactions by scanning tunneling microscopy and quantum mechanical modeling. As a postdoctoral researcher, she worked on molecular computing, an approach to solving optimization problems via chemistry. An advocate of curiosity-driven research and STEAM (STEM+Arts) education, Si Yue volunteers with science education and outreach organizations, including as an instructor and program developer with Pueblo Science and judge and mentor for science fairs. She is also an alumna Junior Fellow of Massey College and a former board member of the Montreal-based YOUths! Leadership Development Group. Si Yue has been a board member at Evidence for Democracy since 2018.
