Engaging with your local candidates

Elections are a great time to engage with your local candidates to find out where they stand on science and start building long-term relationships with decision-makers.

  1. Find your local candidate.
  2. Don’t know how to engage with your representative? Read our toolkit on how to talk to your representatives, and brainstorm issues you want to talk about.
  3. Reach out to your candidate. Email them to ask for their views on science, or see if they are willing to meet with you. (The toolkit can help give you some tips – here’s how Dr. Amanda Veri used microbes to invite her MPP!)
  4. Tell us how it went! This will help us identify science-friendly candidates who will hopefully become science-friendly representatives.

I’m going to #VoteScience because…

There are so many reasons to #VoteScience, whether it’s to support the environment, to increase health and wellness, or develop new technologies. Here’s your chance to highlight why you, personally, are going to #VoteScience.

Let’s get social! Print out this template sign, fill in your reasons and then take a selfie for social media. Make sure to use the #VoteScience hashtag and tag your local candidates!
