Evidence for Democracy (E4D) advocates for the transparent use of science and evidence in Canadian public policy and government decision-making.
As a national, non-partisan, and not-for-profit organization, we believe that all Canadians benefit when public policy is informed by evidence.
We aim to increase government transparency and accountability by ensuring that scientific evidence is used in the decision-making process for the public good. And that these decisions are communicated openly to the public.
Governments can be tempted to make decisions based on ideology or political convenience unless the public loudly demands otherwise. Increasingly, the Canadian public is asking for transparency and evidence-based decision-making. Evidence for Democracy is here to facilitate, organize, and amplify these demands through education, monitoring, and advocacy.
A flourishing democracy demands an informed public. Evidence is the cornerstone of informed public debate, so our mission is to enhance the level of public debate through advocacy for the open collection, rigorous evaluation, and wide dissemination of knowledge and scientific evidence.
