The House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance has issued its annual call for written submissions to the pre-budget consultations in advance of Budget 2024, due on Friday 4th August. It’s tempting to dismiss this exercise, especially as recent federal budgets have offered crumbs for Canada’s science ecosystem, but we need to take every opportunity to weigh in to make sure that science and research have a meaningful place in the next federal budget.
