Q&A: The Science Community's Role in the COVID-19 Response

What: Join E4D for a Q&A session to talk about the role of the science commnunity in the response to COVID-19. We will be joined by an expert panel of COVID-19 Resources Canada founders Dr. Guillaume Bourque and Dr. Tara Moriarty as well as Dr. Masha Cemma of the Office of the Chief Science Advisor and Dr. Cara Tannenbaum, Departmental Science Advisor at Health Canada. These speakers will discuss the announcement of new federal funds to support science and research in the response to COVID-19, the importance of having a centralized hub of resources for the COVID-19 response, the role on the science community in Canada in this crisis, and share details of ongoing initiatives aiming to gather scientific expertise and resources. 

Scientists and Researchers have an important role to play in Canada's response to COVID-19. 

COVID-19 Resources Canada in a one-stop crowd-sources portal consisting of COVID-19 related resources, expertise, reagents, equipment and information to help the Canadian R&D community. To date, the portal has recruited 3,218 Canadian volunteers, and features >200 COVID-19 related research projects, funding opportunities and community response initiatives.

CanCOVID is an expert network of Canadian COVID-19 researchers, clinical collaborators, and healthcare stakeholders from across the country. Canada's Chief Science Officer mandated the creation of CanCOVID to expedite communication and collaboration between the scientific, healthcare and policy communities during the COVID-19 crisis.
