Introducing E4D's new interim Executive Director!

Wednesday, April 20, 2016 - 16:32

We have some exciting news to share with you!

Kathleen Walsh joined the team in April and will be serving as the interim Executive Director for the next year while I’m away on parental leave starting in May.

Kathleen recently finished her Masters degree in Development Studies at the London School of Economics, and also has a degree in Public Affairs and Policy Management from Carleton University. She brings a strong background in policy advocacy and campaigning to E4D, and has worked with a number of non-profit organizations including the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, the Rideau Institute, Nobel Women’s Initiative, and Equal Voice.

In the past few weeks, Kathleen and Katie have been incorporating our supporters' feedback into E4D's strategic plan for the next three years, and supporting government scientists’ push to strengthen their right to speak through our campaign calling for Science Integrity Policies.

We have confidence that Kathleen will excel at building on Evidence for Democracy’s great work in the last few years. As always, Evidence for Democracy will be continuing to ensure that evidence, science, and the best available data are front and centre to the new government's decision-making and public policy processes.

Katie Gibbs

Executive Director (on parental leave)

Katie Gibbs is a scientist, organizer and advocate for science and evidence-based policies. While completing her PhD at the University of Ottawa researching threats to endangered species, she was one of the lead organizers of the ‘Death of Evidence’ rally - one of the largest science rallies in Canadian history. Katie cofounded Evidence for Democracy and now serves as its Executive Director.
