Gift Acceptance Policy

The following policies and guidelines govern acceptance of gifts made to E4D and is meant to provide guidance to the Board of Directors, staff, and potential donors on which gifts can be accepted.

Evidence for Democracy (E4D) is a registered Canadian non‐profit organization. E4D is not a charity so your donation is not eligible for a tax receipt. E4D solicits and accepts donations to fulfill its mission to “advocate for the transparent use of evidence in government decision-making.”

E4D accepts gifts (monetary and in-kind), donations, grants and funds from individuals, foundations, organizations, associations, employee groups, corporations and other donors.

`E4D shall not accept direct support from Canadian federal or provincial governments, however, it will accept government research grants for applicable projects. E4D shall not accept gifts over $25,000 to ensure no one stakeholder has undue influence on E4Ds activities.

E4D shall not accept gifts which could jeopardize the organization’s integrity, damage its credibility or reputation, or expose it to unacceptable financial or liability risk. E4D reserves the right to decline any gift. A decision not to accept a gift would be made by the Board of Directors.
