Evidence for Democracy (E4D) is launching a Dear Future Premier campaign as part of their ongoing Vote Science initiative to elevate science and evidence-informed decision-making in the upcoming provincial elections in British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Saskatchewan. This non-partisan campaign calls on voters to engage with candidates and demand that science become a central priority in provincial policy.
“Science and research impact every Canadian,” said Sarah Laframboise, Executive Director of Evidence for Democracy. “From healthcare to wildfire management to education, evidence-informed decisions are key to building a stronger, more sustainable future. Science isn’t often a focus in election platforms, but we believe it needs to be front and centre.”
The Dear Future Premier campaign offers a platform for voters in British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Saskatchewan to advocate for science in their provinces. In past #VoteScience campaigns, Canadians sent hundreds of messages to electoral candidates, urging them to prioritize evidence-informed decision-making. This campaign continues this momentum, but with a specific focus on the urgent provincial challenges we face today, such as climate change, healthcare reform, and education.
“We know that science has the power to solve the pressing issues of our time,” said Laframboise. “But without political will and strong leadership, these solutions remain on paper. The Dear Future Premier campaign gives voters the tools they need to make science a priority for their next provincial government.”
E4D encourages all voters to use the portal to ensure that science is a core pillar in provincial policy-making. We have crafted a complementary analysis of each provincial party platform in relation to science and research (available on our website here) to encourage informed voting and participation in this campaign.
