Dr. Alexa Alexander-Trusiak:
Dr. Alexander-Trusiak is an Environment and Climate Change Canada research scientist and Visiting Research Assistant Professor co-located in the Biology Department at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. Dr. Alexander-Trusiak’s primary role is in research, with a focus on the development and application of integrated assessment approaches to separate and diagnose the effects of multiple stressors in aquatic ecosystems. Her research targets critical areas where current environmental guidelines are inadequate or where thresholds for environmental sustainability are required. Her research to date has focussed on three main themes 1) the combined effects of mixtures of pesticides and nutrients on aquatic communities, 2) understanding water quality and the influence of snowmelt on water quality in Canada’s oil sands, and 3) understanding broader implications of mixtures of contaminants and natural gradients in experimental streams and ponds.
